Live Theatre & Music Venue
The Capitol Centre, an historic 1,400-seat theatre that opened in 1929 as North Bay’s first theatre is located in the heart of downtown. The Capitol Centre hosts a variety of musical performances, theatrical productions, film showings and comedy shows throughout the year.
Museums & Art Galleries
The city’s museums, such as the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence, the Dionne Quints Museum and the North Bay Museum, provide an opportunity to explore the area’s rich history and learn about the community’s heritage.
The Whitewater Gallery is a contemporary art gallery and artist’s collaborative dedicated to developing artistic talent in Northern Ontario and beyond. The gallery produces public art exhibtions, installations, showings and events for both emerging and established artists.
The WKP Kennedy Gallery, located in the Capitol Centre is open to the public and free to visit. Stop in before a show at the Capitol to view local exhibitions and artists from all over the world. Consider attending one of the gallery’s many workshops, art sales, classes, and other events to inspire your creativity.
Art, Music & Cultural Festivals
The city also hosts several cultural festivals, including Maamwi Kindaaswin Pow-Wow, Ice Follies, Le Carnaval des Compagnons, the Downtown Gallery Hop, the North Bay Film Festival and the Downtown Bay Block Party which celebrate the region’s arts, music and culture.
