The newest addition to North Bay’s offerings for touring cyclists is the Voyageur Cycling Route. From end-to-end, the route spans 645 kilometres across Northeastern Ontario and will eventually connect to Ottawa. As the name suggests, the Voyageur Cycling Route pays homage to the unique history of the region; it follows the great waterways used for thousands of years for transportation and trade by early explorers and the Indigenous nations before them.

This tour is a unique, driving loop which takes visitors around Lake Temiskaming.  This experience is touted as offering travellers “One lake, two provinces, and three cultures.”

The Lake Temiskaming Tour is a unique cross-border tourism initiative between Ontario and Quebec.  Starting and ending in North Bay, visitors can travel in either direction, exploring Marten River, Temagami, Temiskaming Shores, New Liskeard, Notre-Dame-du-Nord, Ville-Marie, Temiscaming and Mattawa.

This trip will provide rich history and culture of the area as well as countless views of lakes, marshes and old-growth forests, with some white pines as old as 300 years.  The tour takes one to two days depending on your stops, and offers a delightful mix of culinary experiences, natural attractions, cultural exhibits, motels and camping opportunities.  This trip will also provide the thrill of the open road, and a slight detour into the jewel that is Algonquin Park (optional).
