North Bay’s arts community comes alive when riding the Spirit of The Bay self-guided cycling tour. The ride can include a distance of anywhere from 30 – 80 km through the lively city of North Bay and the charming town of Callander on a combination of road and paved trails, including the beautiful Kate Pace Way and Kinsmen Trail.

Named as one of Ontario’s Top Farmer’s Market Destinations, you can immediately sense the bustle and excitement upon arriving on site at the North Bay Farmers’ Market.  The friendliness and warm welcome from vendors and visitors alike elevate the sights, sounds and smells people have come to love in Downtown North Bay.

The North Bay Farmers’ Market mission is to create reliable access to fresh and healthy locally grown food, support wellness and agriculture education and provide the opportunity for local farmers, food producers, artisans, musicians and community organizations to create a sustainable vibrant community.

North Bay’s Farmer’s Market is a year-round attraction for locals and visitors alike, ensuring that everyone has a chance to explore the unique vendors, foods and musical guests whether rain, snow, hail or sunshine.

Summer Farmers’ Market

The summer market takes place adjacent to the North Bay Museum, at 100 Ferguson St. every Wednesday from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:30 pm from May – October.

Winter Farmers’ Market

The market moves indoors, starting in October – May, on Saturdays from 9:30am-1:30pm in the Kennedy Building at 222 McIntyre St. Visit the indoor farmers’ market for seasonal foods and for unique and fun Christmas gifts made by artisans and crafters from around North Bay!

Be sure to also visit the North Bay Outdoor Winter Market on Saturdays in November which features numerous holiday events and activities leading up to the Old-Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk.

Located in downtown North Bay, the Capitol Centre is the city’s premier destination for live theatre, art exhibitions, film, and community events. As a designated heritage site, this former 1929 “palace of splendour” continues to be the cultural epicentre of North Bay.

Originally opened on June 1, 1929 as the Capitol Theatre by Famous Players, the venue was built with 1,455 seats, elaborate Spanish‑style décor, and state-of-the-art design for its day. Over the decades, it survived economic hardship, wartime years, and changing entertainment trends — hosting films, live performances, and even local businesses.

In the 1970s, a grassroots group named the North Bay Theatre and Arts Community Centre (TACC) rallied to save the building. By 1986, they purchased the theatre, restored it, and reopened it in 1987 as a revitalized arts centre. Since then—notwithstanding modern upgrades—the Capitol Centre has preserved its historic charm while adapting for current productions.

What You’ll Find at the Capitol Centre

  1. Betty Speers Theatre: With roughly 930 fixed seats, the theatre hosts a wide range of performances—including concerts by the North Bay Symphony Orchestra, theatrical productions, dance, film screenings, comedy, and more.
  2. W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery: This public gallery features rotating art exhibits, photography, sculpture, and traditional and contemporary works by local and touring artists.
  3. Event Spaces: The second-floor “Galaxy Room” is available for receptions, community gatherings, and private functions.
